Coming home has reconnected me to my roots, to my parents’ struggles, and to the sacrifices that built the foundation I stand on today. My mom came from the struggle, but her ultimate goal was to get me out of it. She set me up in a suburban neighborhood, put me in the best schools, and tried to give me the opportunities she never had. But over time, she lost her grip. Her mistakes created challenges that rippled through my life and my dad’s.

My dad has sacrificed so much. He lost significant financial stability because of my mom’s impulses and hasn’t been able to fully enjoy the fruits of his labor. That reality breaks my heart because I see the toll it’s taken on him. But even in the face of his losses, he’s given me everything he had to make sure I could stand tall and thrive.

When I hit hard times, he was my safety net. He’s the reason I could get back on my feet and afford life’s necessities, even when things were difficult for both of us. His sacrifices made my healing and growth possible, and his unwavering support has pushed me to soar.

Coming home has reminded me that it’s my turn now. It’s my turn to grind, to shine, and to create a better life—not just for myself, but for my dad too. I owe it to him, to my mom’s dreams, and to my ancestors who prayed for moments like this. I am the fruit of my father’s labor, and I will bear even greater fruits for us to enjoy—on Earth and in Heaven.

Now, I want to encourage you to find your “why.” Take a deep dive into your soul. Reflect on your roots, your journey, and the dreams you carry. Write it out. Don’t hold back—let yourself feel every emotion that comes up. Embrace it. Own it. Your “why” is your fuel. It’s what will keep you moving forward, even when the path feels heavy.

Whatever circumstances you come from, you are not bound by them. You are not a product of your environment. You are more. You can break free. You can choose to grow, to rise, and to be better than what the world may have expected of you.

Let your “why” motivate you, inspire you, and remind you of what’s possible. The grind doesn’t stop until you surpass the top. The seeds you plant today will grow into a legacy for you and those you love. You are your ancestors’ wildest dreams—live in that truth. Shine brightly, unapologetically, and boldly.
