Rooted in Love

I’m realizing more and more the depth of my kind heart and loving spirit. This unwavering, almost overwhelming love I carry for humanity is rooted deeply in both my parents. From my mother and father came a collision of selflessness and pure, unfiltered love, forming me into a being of peace, joy, and boundless compassion.

Today, after arriving home, my dad and I made a quick trip to the grocery store to grab some things for my visit. My dad has this incredible gift—he never forgets a face or a name. It’s a trait I’ve inherited from him, and I admire it so much. It’s not just a matter of memory; it’s about valuing people, making them feel seen, respected, and genuinely cared for. We listen, we observe, and we show up for others.

What struck me most, though, was the moment a man greeted my dad warmly. “How have you been?” he asked, and then added, “I think about you all the time—you never forget good people.” Hearing that made my heart swell. My dad, with his humor and kindness, has touched so many lives, often without even realizing it. His joy and laughter are infectious, and his unique sense of humor—one I share—has a way of connecting with those who truly get it.

As I spend more time with him, I see more of myself in him, and I appreciate him in ways I never could as a child. I’m grateful to be home for the holidays, to sit in his presence, to call him my dad and be his daughter.

Today was special for another reason, too. I hugged him, and he complimented my perfume—something he rarely does. When he asked what it was, I smiled and said it was one of Mom’s old fragrances. I could see a flicker of joy in his eyes. He loved her so deeply. Losing her was an immeasurable loss for both of us, but moments like these remind me how her love still lingers, woven into our hearts and lives.

Today, I’m grateful. I am love. I feel love. I give love. I receive love. I am loved.
