Drowning in Silence

Who’s there when you’re down,
When all your luck has run out,
And you’re broken, drowning,
Head underwater, feet never reaching the bottom?
Love is gone, not even an ember of hope.
Just you and your misery,
A life full of sin so you can cope.
Drugs, sex, love, lust—
A pure, relentless distress.
Who’s there when it really counts,
When you need hope, patience,
Kindness, compassion,
A whisper of grace, a touch of relief?
Show me the list, and I’ll show you the void.
Offer your love, and I’ll bare my soul, unspoiled.
