With What Remains

You are missed

You made your point.

You said, “You’ll miss me when I’m gone.”

Are you done?

It’s been too long.

Maybe I’ll sing a sad song,

Or write a poem about your life—

About the light that faded in me

When you left.

Is this really what life is supposed to be?

I search for you within,

Uncovering every hidden piece

Until it’s you I find.

I’m the magic you lost along the way,

The love that deserved to stay.

With every breath,

I weep.I reach for help when I feel weak,

But no one can save me.

I must move forward,

Carrying this void,

This weight of loss,

With no return.

Yet still,

For your love, I will yearn—

A love that echoes,

Guiding me to learn

How to heal,

How to live

With what remains.
